I have always been completely in love with Paris; cliché isn’t it? Oh well, c’est la vie!
I had never been been to Paris in the winter months. I have done spring and summer, but never when the temperatures drop and people are preparing for the holidays. Let me tell you that at this time of year Paris is BEAUTIFUL!
On this particular trip to Paris, I was with a friend of mine (Marissa from Chic Darling). She mentioned right before we left on our adventures to Morocco and Romania that she had booked us an epic Parisian photoshoot; I was absolutely thrilled and couldn’t wait to get some iconic Paris images for the blog and for Instagram.
We had arrived in Paris on a Friday evening. Saturday morning would be my shoot; her’s planned for Sunday . . . or so I thought. We had to get up quite early so that we would make it in time for sunrise. The alarm rang and I was up with a bang to get my ‘face on’ and hair ready! For my outfit, I wore the gorgeous NARCES dress that Dustin gave me for my birthday, it seemed so fitting for an epic Paris photoshoot!
The location was Jardin de Tuileries and the morning was ABSURDLY COLD! The photographer actually mentioned that this was the coldest day in Paris so far this year! The temperature was hovering around -1/0 degrees C, but think about that in a strapless dress 😛 #DoItForTheGram !
We met up with the photographer and dove right in. We chatted poses for a bit, and made a plan of action for the shoot.
He had me first doing a pose whilst looking across the Seine, towards the Musée d’Orsay, with my back arched and arms in a beautiful pose.
A couple shots here . . . a couple more slightly different . . .
Next, he suggested some shots with me facing the opposite side of the garden and told me to turn around . . .
The Paris Proposal
There was Dustin, on bended knee, ring in hand and a huge smile. I was speechless . . . then started crying and started yelling, “YES”! I was in such a blissful shock that I can’t even say how long I was staring at him before saying something, it almost felt like slow motion!
His words were beautiful, meaningful and loving. He surprised me so completely and executed everything so perfectly. My fiancé knew exactly how to take my breath completely away.
He had it all planned out months before, and pretty much started when I booked my flights to Paris. Dustin always knew how much I loved Paris, and how a proposal there would mean so much to me; this was the perfect opportunity.
He researched the ring, photographer and planned each event and step down to a tee, including back up pictures of Karlsson on his phone should I ask for one and not putting an out of office on his work email until the proposal was completed. Everything was perfect! Each time I think about it, I really cannot believe that it actually happened!
The REAL Shoot
We did our engagement shoot right after his breathtaking proposal with Cengiz Ozelsel from Kiss Me in Paris. This was a Paris dream; never in my wildest fantasies did I think that I would get engaged on this trip and let alone in Paris with such a unbelievable experience. I am so blessed to have a fiancé like Dustin. Needless to say, it was all quite magical. We shot at Jardin de Tuileries, the Louvre and (of course) the Eiffel Tower. It is so funny how things from the passed weeks are so clear, now that I know that this was being planned. Dustin was so amazing and not giving anything away to make sure that everything was 100% a surprise.
Today is our five year anniversary, and we have already started planning the wedding (and honeymoon of course)! So funny to think that just a couple of weeks ago I had no idea that we would have this exciting project going into 2018!
