Anyway, perhaps we shall continue the travel inspo chats into the summer, what do you think? Do you want more posts on best beaches or the best off the beaten path places to go? Hit me up and I will make it happen!
Today I really wanted to share a little peek into our stay at The Grand Hotel in Toronto! Yes, we were just in Playa del Carmen, so that one will be coming soon as well; hotels all around, I can’t complain 🙂 The Grand is a gorgeous hotel. It is secretly tucked away on Jarvis street, which is extremely busy and SUPER DUPER close to downtown. I think the most striking thing about the Grand when you’re passing by is the entrance; it is almost art deco. At the top of a huge flight of stairs is a unique overhanging roof, for some reason it really reminds me of Barcelona 🙂
Okay, shall we get into the room that we were staying in? If you were ever worried about having enough light or space in a hotel room definitely check out the Grand; YOU GET A LOFT! We were in the Grand Deluxe Suite. It had its own kitchenette, dining area, living room, and upper level bedroom with a king sized bed. Because the room was a loft there was an ENTIRE WALL of windows! It was amazing to have so much natural light that was streaming through in the morning 🙂 Of course we didn’t stay in the room the whole time; there are so many other things to do and parts of the hotel to see!
If you’re that type of really diligent person, you can definitely check out their gym that they have on site. It is well stocked with machines and free weights. I suppose it is always nice to wake up those muscles before hitting one of their two swimming areas! You can go to the indoor pool, which has beautiful archways and mood lighting or you can head on the rooftop terrace and chill in the jacuzzi with a rare view of the downtown Toronto rooftops! This view is especially epic at night when you can see the entire cityscape. I feel like a rooftop terrace is a must have for any hotel. The luxury of being able to relax in a secluded area where you have an amazing view of the city is completely on point!
Not sure about you but for me a good restaurant is what takes a good hotel to become an amazing hotel!
I thoroughly enjoyed a unique lavender cocktail in the Citrus restaurant. They have also launched a few new menu options including chicken chimole tostadas, lobster bao, lamb meatballs and cobia spiedini. Everything was so delicious and we actually couldn’t finish it all, they were generous in portion sizes, which is fine by me! To switch things up a little we got the cheese plate for dessert instead of ordering something sweet. It was a perfect way to clean the pallet. Not sure why more places don’t have cheese options like this; there were so many delightful pairings! One of the things I loved most about the Grand was how close it was to downtown! You can literally walk to Bloor Yorkville, Toronto’s high end shopping district, as well as the financial distract in 20 mins each! Even closer is a stroll up and down the famous Yonge street as well as a visit to Wellesley Village.
For us, we live in Toronto so this was a staycation. I think it is so important to take yourself out of your regular routine and switch things up. The other great thing about staying at a hotel for a staycation is that you don’t end up using your well deserved downtime to clean the bathroom or fold laundry. How many times have you intended to relax on a staycation and find yourself full of errands and chores to do…. tsk tsk, that is not what downtime is for!
Well, if you’re considering traveling to Toronto, or having a staycation, definitely consider the Grand, you will LOVE IT!
