Best breakfast to get that summer bod!

Best breakfast to get that summer bod!

Guess what??? Yesterday was the first day of Spring! Welcome warmer weather, longer days and summer outfits! Umm. . .  this also means we are all thinking about out ‘summer bod’ are we not? Don’t lie to me, the second that you read ‘summer bod’ in the title you though “hmmmm I also need to work on mine, what is this magic breakfast you speak of?…”. Okay so maybe it wasn’t exactly in those words, but it was enticing enough to get you here!!!

Now disclaimer, a breakfast item alone is not going to get you in shape for the beach, but you know what? It will set your tone for the day on a healthy, protein filled start full of amazing nutritious toppings so that you’re not craving a big ol’ hamburger at lunch! <GASPING FOR AIR AFTER THAT EPIC SENTENCE>

I have three smoothie bowl recipes to share with you! I have to say, I am a new, but eager fan of the smoothie bowl. I love a good smoothie but sometimes I want some crunch or texture as well. A smoothie bowl is great because you can really pack in a lot of fruits and veg and build in layers of protein! The other thing with these smoothie bowls is if you want you can mix and match the proportions of ingredients or make up your own recipe!

Smoothie bowl tips

  • Ensure consistency is slightly thicker than a regular smoothie. If it isn’t your toppings will sink 🙁
  • Increase consistency by adding more frozen fruit, adding more protein powder, adding in rolled oats
  • Decrease consistency by adding more milk, adding more yogurt, adding in any other desired liquid (water, coconut water, juice etc)
  • Make sure to use a good blender such as Nija, Vitamix, or Magic Bullet to make things quick 🙂
  • Pick nutritious toppings such as hemp seed, chia seed, fruits and nuts
  • For PB & Choco bowl . . . get crazy and add some chocolate chips! If the bowl is vegan, use cacao nibs instead 🙂

To be honest, if you have your ingredients ready to go, this could easily be a before work kinda breakfast! This is going to help you out more for that summer bod than the egg mcmuffin that you grab on the go so try one out!

Let me know how the bowls turn out! Post your pics and tag me 🙂 I can’t wait to see the creations!

Happy blending!
